The Avalanches-Since I Left You
Pretty much an eargasm all the way through.

Ah, yes. Storm & Stress' self titled album. At first listen, it may strike you as odd, and pointless, but by the second listen, it becomes all clear. frantic drums pound, while glass is being randomly smashed and Ian says haunting, quiet words in a broken, shattered voice. It's actually quite beautiful, in a way.

Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven

Godspeed You! Black Emperor - F♯A♯∞

I wasn't sure where to put these two, I listened to them a while ago and I really didn't enjoy them, but I felt they sounded nice without being really entertaining.
I've given them another chance, and the highs are really high.
And the lows are really low.
The first 5 minutes of Storm for example, absolutely brilliant.
I find myself drifting in and out of both albums, but as I've said in another thread it's really atmospheric music for the most part. Something I can listen to after a few drinks when I'm quiet in thought, or sleepy.
Maybe they'll grow on me even more, who knows?
But for now I suppose I'm 'digging' them.

Urgh. What have I become?
Listening to Post-Rock FFS.
A new personal low.

That said, the highs were really great.
I hope to like it even more as time goes on, I can see it being a bit of a grower.
Maybe one day I will appreciate the 14 minute mark!
I'd love to go somewhere really cold and snowy and listen to them, they feel like that kind of album. Especially Lift Your Fists.

Do you like Talk Talk? They make Post-Rock acceptable.

Post-Rock is the kind of genre where it always has a nice, wintery feel to it. That's why in the winter, I tend to listen to more post-rock than in the summertime.

Well, just in case if you don't remember, the 14 minute mark is a bit droney sounding, with loud pounding drums. Also, now that we're talking about GY!BE, I feel like listening to Lift Yr. Skinny fists again, but I'll have to find the time since I just downloaded 27555 albums, and I probably need to listen to them

I usually listen to different kinds of post-rock depending on what time of year it is. For example GY!BE is great for rainy autumns. In the summer I like to listen to Ef alot. Somehow it has a summery feeling that I like. Since I live in Finland winter is really dark here and alot of snow too so I usually listen to some depressing or darker stuff. Bohren & der Club of Gore works for me every winter.

ps. Im listening to Lift Your Skinny Fists right now. Loving every minute of it <3
