I can't tell if this is weirdest thing I've ever heard or the best thing I've ever heard. I'll go with both.

I downloaded that Diablo Swing Orchestra album yesterday. I haven't listened to it yet, though. I enjoy weirdness, so fingers crossed.

I can feel it's going to be a genre I'm gonna still dislike, or be indifferent to. But I suppose it'd be nice to have a few Post-Rock albums that are an exception to the rule.
I find Sigur Ros to be terrible. Who'z wiv meh?

I download one album at a time and listen to it, sometimes 2 or 3 but I don't download more than that at a time. I get all confused about what's been listened to and what hasn't if I do.

You should give in and give it a listen, I've been listening to it most of the night.

I started to listen to their album a while ago, I got bored.
One to revisit me thinks.

A post-rock band you may be able to get into is The Low Frequency in Stereo. They're a Norwegian band and there style of post-rock focuses less on atmosphere and ambiance and more on fuzzy noise and jazz, but still retaining the beautiful melodies famous with post-rock. Their 2009 album Futuro would be a good place to start.

Anyways, Dayvan what was so strange about Diablo Swing Orchestra? It was pretty standard metal and a swing-revival sound merged together. I mean I know it's not something you'll hear every day, swing metal, but I mean just wait till you get into some of Solefald's stuff, or even Mr. Bungle. I'm glad you enjoyed it none-the-less, the reason I suggested their newest release rather than their 2006 debut is because the operatic vocals could be a bit much at times, but it's still definitely something to look into if you liked what you heard. It's called The Butcher's Ballroom (2006).

Well, one reason was that at one point the lyrical subject was cookies, but yet again, I've never heard a metal band like that, but I will definitely get The Butcher's Ballroom. Unfortunately, I've got a lot of listening ahead of me, so I may have to put it off because I recently downloaded quite a few albums.

Fair enough, I haven't really paid much attention to the lyrical side of Diablo Swing Orchestra. I don't think there was a lot of English on the first album, or if there was it was drowned out by operatic vibratos. I do recall noticing that a majority of the songs were sung in English and they also toned down the Operatic style. Still I'll have to go back and listen to it with headphones, but I doubt I'll be surprised by the lyrical content of the song. Avant-garde metal has some really strange lyrics when you dissect it down that far.

Subterranean Masquerade - Suspended Animation Dreams (2005)

You know how with most progressive metal bands you get less about progress and more a songs that stretch past the 5 minute mark and feature clean vocals? This isn't that. Subterranean Masquerade are certainly masters of the progressive ideals and attaches them seamlessly to the heavy sound and imagery of metal. If you're a progressive rock fan who wants to hear real progressive metal, check out this album.
