Faust - Faust

It's safe to say that I now enjoy this even more than IV - For a while, I thought that that would be absolutely impossible; even though IV isn't my favorite album or anything, it's certainly magnificent all the same. This album, however, has a stream-of-consciousness, tyrannical, fearsome vein running through it that IV doesn't. The obscurities placed in some of these songs just make them rise miles higher than most tracks on IV. Albeit, "Krautrock" will probably always be my favorite single Faust track, but good lord do I love this album as a whole.

And as for this, I've had a month, only decided to give a first listen about an hour and a half ago, and I've already got through it end-to-end twice. Maybe I like it so much as I don't really know my way around a lot of older Swans material (yet), but I think this might just about end up being my pick for album of the year. Pretty seamless stuff when all's said and done. Oh, and the last verse of the whole album is one of the best song endings I've ever heard.
I see I'm not the only one who still likes Swans in 2010, I don't think there's a single bad song on it. Devendra Banhart was on this too, I think it was "You People ****ing Make Me Sick" which he provided his vocal talents for. Regardless of what people think of him I don't think he had the potential to mess it up.

The one Autechre album I didn't have. I now like it even better than Tri Repetae.

I think I should get into Swans. Any album in particular I should get?

^^If you're hearing Swans for the first time, I suggest Children of God

Shining—BlackJazz
After seeing this one mentioned around MB several times I decided to check it out was very impressed. Amazing stuff, kind of like an evil sounding version of Battles. I'm really looking forward to listening to some more of their albums, from what I've read it sounds like they're all very different from each other.

i agree with all the suggestion esp. Children Of God.....but seeing as you seem to have a flare for experimental/drone weird stuff and the fact that you're listening to Oxbow...i suggest starting with Soundtracks For The Blind....just be sure to play the 'Silver' disc before the 'Copper' disc

Rival Schools - United By Fate

solid indie rock....i honestly have nothing at all bad to say about this band....except maybe they were very short lived and only released one album....i love Walter Schreifels song writing and lyrics....this is a step away from Quicksand but still encompasses great "hardcore" style guitar with just amazing harmony.....it crazy to think this is almost 10 years old!.....i just read that they will be releasing a new album in march....looks like 2011 might be as good as 2010!!!!!!!

Spoiler for Used For Glue:

Soundtracks for the Blind is the Swans album that I started with and I absolutely love it. A journey in album form, really...

Avi Buffalo - Avi Buffalo
I downloaded this album during the summer but i never really gave it much of a chance, i was kind of put off by the vocals at first. But lately i've grown to love it, it's not one of the best albums of the year but it's certainly one of the best debuts. You really have to appreciate the timeless, innocent feel of songs like 'What's In It For?', 'One Last' and 'Where's Your Dirty Mind'. A very memorable album.
