Been listening to this since I'm going to see him tomorrow

I'm not usually a big fan of music with finnish lyrics but this is some of the best music coming out of Finland right now.

inferior than Innervisions but has the life-affirming Sir Duke, which never fails to cheer me up when I'm down

Los Lonely Boys - Sacred

I only remembered I had this album sometime last week, and I swear it's been sitting there for years being very unappreciated 'til lately. This is one of the most fun albums I've listened to in quite some time. The slower moments have such unique way about them, the guitars are absolutely nuts in the livelier moments - latin rock at its finest, basically.

James Carr - You Got My Mind Messed Up

And here's another one that's been neglected for a while 'til recently. I think that's because I've already got the classics off it on a load of classic soul/r'n'b comps of mine (Dark End Of the Street, Pouring Water On a Drowning Man, That's What I Want To Know). Certainly one of the most consistent albums of its ilk that I've heard, and's probably worked its way into my all-time list.

Lissie - Catching a Tiger

Some great singles, but there are lot of mediocre to poor tunes filling virtually the rest of this album up. It falls into that pitfall of a lot of other bright, chirpy, pop-centric albums then.

LFO - Frequencies

I was very surprised when I first heard this album. Released in 1991, in the opening track you are automatically hit with the realization that this album was extremely influential to house music and groups like Daft Punk. I also hear a lot of Krautrock elements in this album. A very good find if you have the time to download it. I'm not even a very big electronic music fan and this is one album that I find really easy to appreciate.

Glen Porter - Blessed by a Young Death

Gorgeous Downtempo/Hip-Hop album. I'd heard a bit of it on YouTube and liked it so that I could go back and listen to the whole thing. I'm glad I did! This is right up my alley.

Her ensemble work is quite breathtaking, too, but the actual emptiness she incorporates into her solo excursions is no less intriguing. Moments pass by, where the only musical 'themes' or 'melodies' established are a few notes in series that resonate both in the mind of the listener and the musician. Extrapolating upon that: an hour passes by, and few of the individual parts are exactly remembered. But that connection to the artist sticks around a while longer.

Something like that. Most of my appreciation for improv. music tends to border on personal anyways.
