Desert rock isn't the same thing as stoner rock. I might be splitting hairs a bit here, but Kyuss took special precaution not to be pigeonholed in that genre. Homme has renounced that nomenclature on several occasions; hell, that was the entire reason they stayed in Palm Springs instead of migrating to LA (the place is completely fucking devoid of any aesthetic merit).

That's kind of silly really, it's not like Palm Springs really has that much to offer on an aesthetic level.

That's what I said.

I've been there; it's a golf course in the middle of a wind farm wasteland.

So then why did Josh Homme think he should stay there?

By the way, LOL, that's the best description imaginable for Palm Springs.

He was disappointed with the late eighties drug scene of LA. Of course, that was when he was like 15 or 16. I guess the novelty of playing out in the desert grew on him and he just stayed where he was. I'm pretty sure he lives there still, and has investments in the local desert rock scene.

Ah, well there's no accounting for taste. At least Palm Springs is close to Joshua Tree. That place is pretty cool.
