They went in a slightly different direction with this album

I've just spent so much time hating on them that I don't know if I can actually bring myself to do it.

If I did actually suck it up and listen it better be some kind of freaking masterpiece.

Edit:

The Fall of Troy - Phantom On the Horizon

I decided to pull this one out again. Personally, it's my favorite album from the Fall of Troy. I still remember how pumped I was when this came out. I had heard a lot of it on their Ghost Ship demos, so I was excited to hear it in all out studio quality. This kind of music isn't even generally my thing, but I love the Fall of Troy.

I feel like with this album they gained new fans but they completely alienated those fans that loved them from the beginning.
yeah, but they gained fans like me, so too bad for the old fans that they're not just remaking Hybrid Theory.

I was messing with you. Kind of. And no...I'm just not interested.

The song Jesus Fever really caught my attention, so I checked this guy out:

Kurt Vile - Smoke Ring For My Halo

The rest of the album is not as strong as Jesus Fever, but after a couple listens I got over it. It really is a great release for this year.

this didn't do much for me when I listened to it shortly after it was released, but now I'm in love.

does anyone have some suggestions of music similar that's not by burial?
