I'm really digging the Boy and Bear EP With Emperor Antartica. Really good quality indie folk.

No-Neck Blues Band - Clomeim

This definitely isn't for everybody. NNCK (as they're also known) are a seven-member free-from improv act from New York, and this is their latest album... Perhaps their best to date too. It's very dark, unhinged and, at times, hugely abrasive. Yet, it evokes this distant, strange and beautiful atmosphere that I personally find irresistible. If you like albums that challenge you, give it a bash.

Hell yeah. That album is f'ing incredible. In my opinion, it is by far their best, and really their only consistently good album. The rest are hit and miss. The only other album that comes close is 'This Is My Truth...'.

Amplifier - Amplifier (2005)

It's like nu-metal without the aggravating vocals. Or just some deliberately accessible sludge metal with influences drawn from early Tool. I keep waiting for the crescendo and breakbeat but there isn't as much an attempt to pander to the quiet LOUD quiet LOUD verse/chorus schema; in that respect there is an "otherness" to it that is not reminiscent of nu-metal. Very interesting, me thinks.

Zero and myself are big fans of this album. They have recently released an ambitious double album that doesn't always work but it still has some great stuff going on. Well worth checking out. Another convert it's called The Octopus BTW if you want to check it out.

I recently got into Rage Against the Machine (I know, I'm a little late here), and Evil Empire is just an excellent little record to jam to.

Tame Impala - Inner Speaker
I thought Enslaved's album was best for '10. Pretty sure this takes the cake. Sounds like a mixture between The Olivia Tremor Control and psychedelic Beatles.

I thought that mantle had already been taken up by Circulatory System?! Inner Speaker is a fine album though, good call.

The Octopus is in my list for albums of the year.....although i do agree that at times its a bit trying.....the pros outweigh the cons by far
