Thy Catafalque - Rengeteg (2011)
Some brilliant avant-garde/progressive metal from Hungary. There's so much depth to be found here and their music has many twists and turns and interesting moods and textures. The lyrics are in their native Hungarian but the quality of their compositions are something else.

It's definitely one of my favourite metal releases of the year.

Dirty Tree - 'Horse Stories'

Really loving this album right now. Especially this song...

Only mid-way through so hopefully it carries on in the same vein.

I've been put off of Earth for a long time. Two years ago I tried to listen to SunO)))'s Monoliths and Dimensions and I turned it off after 30 seconds. I just couldn't do it. I received rather a wrong impression of drone from that. Tentatively, I put this on my to-do list this year, all because Folksie was going on about its beauty earlier in the year, and I must say, this is quite a pretty post-rock album. Glad I gave it a shot. Thanks Folksie.

Sunn0))) and Earth (ha!) are really two very different types of bands.....who get put together....actually the two together makes for a great show....i've always kind of look at sunn0))) as the sound of the end....and Earth as the soundtrack for the aftermath....

Too bad with Sunn 0))), Monoliths & Dimensions is abso-fucking-lutely fantastic in my eyes. Earth are great too though, maybe try out Boris if you get a sec? Pink is quite a digestible drone album. It adheres to a more standard rock formula, and it's got some killer hooks.

I was actually figuring I should give Sun0))) another go now that it's been a couple years and I know what they, and drone, is actually about.

If you do, Black One is the masterpiece... If anyone disagrees with that they're fibbing.

This backs up my point.
