Jessica Bailiff - Even in Silence

In many ways a typical Kranky release; droning, highly textured slowcore with a dreamy, repetitive vibe. This album packs one hell of a punch. Great stuff.

pg.lost - Key

I've given this album two full listens since I got it yesterday afternoon. It lives up to it's expectations if not delivers more than what would be expected. With 7 tracks total, they know how to pack it into an good 40 to 50 minutes or pure post-rock. I always have high expectations for this band, and again, they show it with flying colors.

Just listening to the collaboration between Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree) and Mikael Åkerfeldt (Opeth). Unsure what to make of it so far but it's certainly not a retro 70's Prog fest that many may think it could be. Intriguing.

Released today but I only streamed it through Spotify. Good enough for me to head straight into a CD buy as it needs to be heard on decent Hi Fi equipment. Don't be expecting Metal though

Oh I don't believe me, it's Wilson and Akerfeldt, they're going to have a great big progressive rock nerd off which I'm okay with.

Yeah Storm Corrosion is definitely genre bending as expected. Hints of Scott Walker creeping in which I love. Drag Ropes just has that vibe to it elements of The Drift which is by far the scariest work of audio art I've ever had the privilege to listen. Buying this album tomorrow. Grace for Drowning was a triumph for Steven as was Heritage for Opeth.

I haven't listened to it yet but I know "First Utterance" is a favorite of Mikael's so as soon as I saw the "Progressive/Psychedelic Folk" tags on RYM I knew it would be a homage to Comus. I'm excited, downloading now.

Please tell us what you think of it. It's one of my favorite albums of the 70s, and by far my favorite contemporary folk album.
