I've always dug this album, but recently it refuses to leave my stereo.

Scott H. Biram - Graveyard Shift (2006)

I've been on a bit of a country kick lately since the release of Corb Lund's Cabin Fever and decided to try and listen to more of the musicians I found when I was really plugging the Gothic Country stuff. One of the musicians I found back in '09 is Scott H. Biram, and his interesting lo-fi sounding old school country. This has more in common with someone like Steve Earle with a big mix of Hank III and it's definitely a grab-bag of styles. Drugs are definitely a recurring theme, with the song "Reefer Load" about a drug smuggling trucker. He may be a little too raw for people more accustomed to the pop country stuff, but if you're a fan of the old favorites you should definitely check this guy out, I think you'll find a lot to like.

Two Lone Swordsmen's Double Gone Chapel and Blanck Mass' self-titled.

Awwwwww yeah. First is a sick, black sounding IDM album, the second is stunning ambient.

Old Man Gloom, Christmas. This is simply fantastic. Some sort of unholy combination of sludge metal and hardcore with noise rock elements. There are frequent ambient soundscapes with acoustic guitar that amplify the anticipation for the next metal explosion, like a few beautiful snowflakes falling on your face when you can clearly see the blizzard approaching, threatening to envelope you. Brilliant.

Black Tusk, Taste The Sin and Set The Dial. putting these together because there are very few differences between the two records, and I am totally fine with that. Crusty, furious sludgecore that flies by at blistering speeds, like some kind of wild boar rigged up with jet engines. That is on fire. The two vocalists in the band make a gloriously nasty combination, one with a high pitched punk shriek and the other with a death growl that can shake a room. Great stuff.

EDIT- Sorry, three singers, forgot about the drummer. He doesn't pipe up quite as much, but is still good. A little less singing and more just shouting out random phrases, but in the best possible way. Just to clarify.

Minus The Machine by 10 years.
This is the latest release by 10 years, for this album they left their previous label, and went to their own independent label so they could make the music they wanted. They are classified as an alternative metal band. It's a different sound from their previous albums, its a little harder (in my opinion) and has so much more feeling to it.
Favorite songs: Minus the Machine, Backlash, Dancing with the Dead, Soma, Knives

People Under The Stairs - Fun DMC

One of the first Hip Hop albums I really connected with when I started looking on the interwebs for "underground" music. Love the fun vibe, positive messages and immense production.
