Jens Carelius - The Architect

Switched over to this as I don't have much free spotify left. Beautiful arty/folky/pop album so far. Will try finding a DL.

No, I think you will struggle to find it. A quote from the band is "we dont want your money, we just want to cave your head in with mighty riffage!" so it shouldn't come as a surprise that they are giving away the CD-Rs and, in the case of the first two, uploaded them for free on Bandcamp once they had all gone. I'd imagine they will do the same when the third and fourth are all gone too.

Nick Drake - Way To Blue: An Introduction to Nick Drake

Granted, I like all of his work, this is just a good album to put on when i'm in the mood to listen to him. I'd put Bryter Layter before this album any day though.

The Young Sinclairs - Chimey (2010)
One of the best 60s psychedelic pop albums not recorded in the 60s that I've ever heard. I've been digging this band for the past month but especially this release. Pretty mellow stuff for the most part, not sunshine pop or anything. A few songs are more upbeat than the rest but it's not like The Beatles' "Help" or anything.

Allah-Las - Allah-Las (2012)
This? The other best 60s psychedelic pop album not recorded in the 60s that I've heard lately. There's some surf on here too including some really nice instrumentals.

You know, I've thought recently that the 80's sound was making a comeback...but it's clear now that it's actually the 60's that are. There have been some truly great psychedelic albums recorded recently. Tame Impala's Lonerism, Chris Cohen's Overgrown Path, Murals' On A Passing Cloud...even a lot of the shoegaze coming out has a very 60's tinge to it. I haven't heard either of those albums, so I'll definitely have to check those out.

I'm actually listening to Lonerism now, great album but with that and even Murals' On a Passing Cloud (which I've only listened to once, seeming a bit too much like an Animal Collective clone) they are very clearly modern albums with 60s influence. The two mentioned above could easily be lost classics from the 60s. They don't have a revival sound, they sound quite authentic. Especially The Young Sinclairs.

I just listened to the Allah-Las, and I can definitely see what you mean. Now I know what you were getting at...got any more like that? Sadly, Spotify does not have the Young Sinclairs album you posted.

If I'm not mistaken, you can play the entire thing on the Bandcamp album page:

I can't think of any other bands with an authentic sound off the top of my head, maybe they're the only two that I've discovered lately. Others maybe just simply incorporate the 60s sound into their modern style.

Actually, for a more upbeat Kinks/Beatles type sound, check out The Spongetones. The Beat & Torn comp is a good collection of their best EPs from what I'm told (and is the only thing I've heard). It's ever so slightly reminiscent of The Dukes of Stratosphere as well (XTC's 80s psych-pop parody) because of a slightly more modern production sound compared to actual 60s stuff. A bit power-popish if that makes sense - but some tracks you would definitely think are straight up 60s.

If you haven't heard Dead Meadow, check out their self titled album...while not as authentic sounding as the two you posted (they have a lot of modern-isms), I'd say they are definitely hitting a 60's vibe with a lot of Sabbath influence.
