thank you so much mojo!
Excellent, I had hoped to see one of those Bong albums appear in here! I'm over the moon you're digging it.

As I said to you, that is a weird one, that album. I much prefer their other studio albums but that one seems to consistently get good reviews and a lot of the people I know who like Bong were bowled over by that one too. Not that I don't like it of course, there isn't a Bong release I don't dig. It just doesn't stand out ahead of the others for me.

Pinebox Serenade was a really great find. It's funny I actually couldn't find their debut album anywhere, but somehow managed to download each song on it individually from their website from their previews. I can't remember how I did it, but I think that was my first hack.

I like this years. Its their first time in a real studio and so its much slicker and crisper. Its arguable whether that suits them or not but I dig it. They don't change drastically from record to record really but I can zone out to the new one as much as I could the others and it certainly doesn't disappoint me.

Beyond Ancient Space is trippy, it just sounds like it was recorded in someones closet. Again, not necessarily a bad thing for that band really.

Humbug - Arctic Monkeys

I love this record. It's usually labeled as their least best album but I actually think it's their best. Love the 70's psyche sound to it.

I thought Suck It and See earned that distinction last year, perhaps I was wrong.

The Blood of Heroes - The Waking Nightmare (2012)

An apt album title, because they've really managed to capture the manic state of most nightmares I experience in their music. Think of these guys as like the metal/dub cousin of Dalek with a lot of elements from the various members backgrounds, which makes sense considering the lineup (Justin Broadrick, Dr. Israel, Enduser, Bill Laswell, and Submerged) so expect a lot of drill and bass and drum and bass. Noisy, chaotic, and really quite lovely, I'm going to enjoy digesting this for the next month. Sorry there are no example songs, I can't seem to find anything on Youtube yet.

It's certainly better than their latest but not the first two.

Their first album gets pretty old after awhile, second one has a little more replay value but not much. They just sound better when they go for that old-school rock sound.
