The Dusty Foot Philosopher is a like a less polished version of Troubadour, with a little more bite to it, but depending on what annoyed you could put you off the album.

You might also want to check out Shad's 2007 album The Old Prince, or his 2010 album TSOL.

TSOL was Polaris nominated. I don't remember why I never got to it. I think I got bored of doing Polaris releases before I made it to the end of the list.
