Tigerstyle—Mystics, Martyrs & Maharajas
Bhangra album that mixes in a wide array UK dance music styles. My one slight gripe is the occasional schmaltzy R&B vocals, but aside from that this is a flawless and fun party album that demands to be listened to loud.

Alva Noto—Univers
I think I may have already posted this album in this thread, but I'm listening to it on headphones for the first time and just wanted to say that this is the definition of a headphones album. Great stuff.

I avoided this record for years because I bought it when I was 15 and I don't trust the music taste of 15 year old me, but I remembered Coral Fang being a hell of a song and for ****s I put it on today only to discover that this is a great ****ing record.

I could never get into that one, though I love the hell out of their first two albums.

Circa Survive-On Letting Go

last time I listened to this was years ago, and I remember not really being into it at all. I put it in today and I'm surprised at how much I'm enjoying it. I'm loving alot of the instrumentation and the guitar tones with the singer's voice just washes over you.

I guess some things do get better when you give it time.

Mikrolektyw—Revisit (2010)
More amazing, envelope-pushing Polish jazz. Drums and trumpet plus juicy electronics equals one hell of a lovely album. Here's a little sample:

Savages - Silence Yourself (2013)
This has quickly become one of my favourite albums of the year so far. Dark, moody post-punk that ticks all the right boxes for me. Like an updated version of Siousxie and the Banshees. Fun fact: a guy I know actually roadied for these gals last year.

Currently really digging People Who Can Eat People Are The Luckiest People In The World by Andrew Jackson Jihad

And Europe by Ghost Mice who are a folk-punk duo who wrote an album about how they traveled Europe with almost no money, hitch-hiking and catching trains everywhere.

Really love this album as well. "Dark, moody post-punk that ticks all the right boxes for me." says it perfectly for me as well.

Hollis Brown - Ride On the Train

Became interested in this because it's on the usually reliable Alive label. Roots rock with a country & blues vibe now & then. Great songwriting if you love the roots rock genre: lean & tight, not a second wasted. Favorite tracks include "Nothing & The Famous One", "Gypsy Black Cat" & "Nightfall". Reminds me of the Iguanas or the Stones more country-tinged material.

Barn Owl - V

Less doom drone than their previous releases. Here they add synths & drum machines, expanding their sound for the better. Songs are more fleshed out but the dark, night-time mood is still present. 6 tracks here, hard to pick a favorite but I'm enjoying "Against the Night" most as well as the 17 minute "The Opulent Decline" which incorporates the best of their old sound and this new direction (which I hope they keep expanding on).
