Thanks for reminding me about that. That's my favorite from them for sure.

It's amazing the number of people who probably have not heard this album just because they hated Come On Eileen (As do I, and it's not even on this album anyway).
This album makes Paul Weller look like a bumbling amateur when it comes to using excursions into soul music to make pop records.

This is when Dexy's made Northern Soul inspired records and there's not a fiddle, any bib overalls or dungarees in sight.

Teen Dream is better than Bloom in my opinion, but not by all that much. Fantastic band.

I concur. Bloom is Teen Dream Pt II.

Which is a little disappointing. I never like to see the same thing twice.

Not even... like... pizza?

I'm thoroughly enjoying Studio's album 'West Coast'. I recently checked out John Talabot's fIN and thought it was awesome, so I poked around the Balearic Beat genre tag that was attached to it, which lead me to West Coast. Really, it's heavily syncopated indie rock with kraut influences and tribal drumming (hence the balearic tag). But it works super well, and it has two of the most engaging 10+ minute songs I've yet heard. The shorter songs are great as well.

oh and the singer sounds super familiar but I can't put a name to who he sounds like... help!

Kelpe - Ex-Aquarium (2009)
I discovered this guy the same year of this release and have been a big fan since. Mix up some warm IDM, downtempo and instrumental hip-hop beats and you get this masterpiece. He just put out a new album and I'm revisiting his past releases, this being my favorite. The live drums throughout this album really make it special.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

I'm intrigued by that description, definitely tracking that down.

Okay, I have this now and have listened to it and... I think it's pretty great! I totally agree about the drums.
