I really do think The Sound are one of the better post-punk bands from the late '70's/early '80's and as far as debut albums go they really bring a lot to the table with this. I still think From the Lions Mouth is the better album, but I enjoy the more punk rock edge with this one and it feels a bit more uplifting, although I think their skirting the black pit of despair and loneliness is what really makes them standout.

I know a lot of other people have been enjoying this album, and if you're a fan of Joy Division or other post-punk bands from that time period but haven't heard of The Sound, you should definitely go back and check out their discography.

Right down my alley. Just ordered the import. Apparently it has 4 live tracks as well. Anybody listened to the BBC sessions yet?

I've noticed that these guys have gotten better with each release. I love that about them. The singer has one of my favorite voices for new reggae groups, and they're style is so refreshing in a genre that is generally plagued with familiarity. This is definitely going to be the soundtrack of this summer. Can't wait to see them in September.

You know what is crazy? I was JUST about to post in the ska & reggae thread for a suggestion. "Rebelution" is EXACTLY what I was looking for. You have saved me time and brightened my day, Psychedub Dude.

Awesome!! No problem, their definitely one of my favorite groups of the new school reggae scene. I would highly recommend their album Courage To Grow as well, lots of sick guitar riffs and mellow reggae vibes!

Selda Bagcan Vurulduk Ey Halkim Unutma Bizi

Turkish psychedelic-folk and protest singer whose music gives me chills & goose-bumps. Otherworldly to say the least. Selda wrote songs with strong social criticism and was considered a voice of the working class. She was imprisoned three times after the 1980 Turkish coup d'etat. Selda finally gained notice in the West due to two excellent compilations released by World Psychedelia and B-Music records. Even though I can't understand a word she sings, the emotion and intensity of her soul comes through in ways I absolutely understand.

That's pretty awesome! I know she's from Melbourne def but I never knew that.

Spinnerette is pretty good, have you listened to any of her new stuff? It's amazing, she's really progressed as a writer.
