Nadine Shah Love Your Dum And Mad (2013)

Debut album from the UK singer-songwriter. Her music and the mood with-in reminds me of a mix of PJ Harvey, Laura Marling and Nick Cave. "To Be A Young Man", "Floating", "Runaway" and "Winter Reigns" are among my favorite tracks. I hope her follow-up recordings are as strong as this one.

Johnny Cash - Unearthed

Probably my favourite crazy-big CD box set that I own. With the odd exception I've been on quite the country/folk binge lately, so this fits in quite nicely.

Beth Gibbons & Rustin Man - Out of Season (2002)

Not listened to this before but I have always loved her voice. Really fucking good in my opinion. Chamber-Folk or some shit.

Surprised I've not seen this album mentioned so much more on here this past few months.
Beats any of the indie drek I've seen hyped up this year, yet would appeal to that audience.

Julia Holter - Loud City Song (2013)
I enjoyed the album she released last year Ekstasis but my golly this is even better. I had high hopes for this album and this has certainly met my expectations. Like Ekstasis she channels dream-pop through a kaleidoscopic medium so that her music seems familiar yet completely alien at the same time. On Loud City Song she expands on that formula with far more variety and more interesting, off-the-wall ideas and yet despite this seems more accessible and engaging. This could end up among my favourite albums of 2013.

I've just received the DT bug through Ki (the member not the album), and only because in a rush of kindness I bought "Epicloud" for him (cheapo cheapo from my favourite album vendor) because he couldn't afford it. A few weeks ago I realised it was on my hdd, tried it and HOLY GOOD GOBLIN IN THE CLOUDS it is amazing! I'd definitely recommend it. Will be listening to more soon.

I did find a cover of "New York, New York" that he collabed on with some other artists I can't remember at the moment. At first I was like...what the hell...but then suddenly I couldn't stop playing it. It's just so out there.

That was on "Sin-atra", a mostly pretty awful album "tribute" to the music of Ol' Blue Eyes. Hilariously bad, mostly. I didnt like his version at all I have to say.
