You know it's true The Pistols accomplished more in their 3yrs together than Hendreix did or Syd Barret in their entire

Jimi Hendrix. And I have to agree Pinkfloyd were more on the renegade side than the Sex Pistols, even if they weren't rowdy like them. Find out the lyrics to some of their songs. Even their mainstream hits like "Another Brick in the Wall" were very rebellious.

And even so, how technically demanding music is shouldn't determine its quality. What's important is the music you make with your musical skills. If you can evoke a feeling with 3 chords, good for you. If you can evoke that same feeling with sweeped arpeggios played in a 19/8 time signature, good for you. Don't you see that it's songwriting which is important? And that is why I can't see why a band being technically weak at playing their instruments is any cause for celebration. It's not necessarily a bad thing either... but I wouldn't consider it an advantage.

And if we're talking rebellion, I always thought that Public Image Ltd. sounded more rebellious than the Sex Pistols. Not to mention the folk and hippie music of the 60s. Hell, women so much as playing rock was rebellious.

I was talking about song writing. John Lydon's lyrics were brillant nothing like that before. Pink Floyd were more i'm on acid i'll just write what i see.

What did Syd do other than get fat and go crazy? Hendrix changed the guitar world nothing else.

Why are you in this argument when you admittedly don't even know what Syd Barrett accomplished in his short career? Go do a bit of reading, listen to at least some of his music and then we'll talk.

Yes, Hendrix changed the guitar world. Why are you acting as if that's such a trivial achievement? What did the Sex Pistols change? The punk rock world? So what? I'd say completely changing the way an instrument is played, not just by rock musicians, but by musicians spanning various genres, is far more notable and commendable than popularizing an already burgeoning style of music.
