Of course I did and metal was booming at the time, but my comment was referring to rock in general and not metal.

Why are you restricting it to just rock? And why not include metal in your assessment? It was one of the dominant forms of rock in the mid to late 80s after all.

Take metal out of the assessment and that leaves a disappointing rock spectrum in the late 1980s, that was effectively saved by grunge.

Saved by grunge? Yikes. Even without metal, give me mid to late 80s punk, post-punk, hardcore, industrial rock, college rock, goth, etc. any day of the week over grunge.

grunge did not really save anything.....really its nothing more than a watered down more radio friendly version of the great noise rock from the mid to late 80s....not saying anything bad about that.....grunge music defiantly opened my eyes to better bands.....something i will always be grateful for

All the soft rock, post punk, hardcore and goth that I like is early to mid 1980s, so when grunge came it was a major improvment on all the stuff I didn't really care for in the late 1980s.

For my opinion the Anglosphere makes the best music in The United Kingdom. The music which is made by Angloshere is all time best songs.
