Voted for America due to the sheer volume and diversity of music that has come from there. Britain is a very close second though and on another day I might have ticked that box

It's a small country next to the Netherlands.

I'm an American, I like our music the best. I can obviously relate to it more. But the UK definitley put out more music I like pre-1980, so I give props to them as well. I'm not to keen on current British music. The only bands post 1980 I like are The Clash ( only Combat Rock ), Muse ( I think they are from Europe lol ), Oasis, like a few Radiohead songs and of course U2 ( they count right? ).

U2 is from Ireland.

Which is a separate country if you believe in such things.

that's really iffy, yeah you're right, both the Edge and Adam Clayton were born in England but like mentioned above the band, U2, is from Ireland.

Most bands I like from England that were popular during the 80's actually formed or started out in the 60's and 70's. So I kinda agree about the division line of 1980. There are a few exception for me like The Fixx and The Smiths, they formed in the 80's there are the only one I can think of right now, but you are totally wrong about The Clash They are not a post 1980 band but were quite active in the 70's. There are more Clash albums prior to Combat Rock in their catalogue, you should check them out.

Fuck U2. Just puttin' it out there.

Anyhoot, of course I'm American. You can tell that by my total lack of sophistication. Most of my favorite bands and artists are American, and my collection is vast. Maybe not as far-reaching as some, but farther than most. But then again, I like a lot of U.K. and European acts (King Crimson, The Clash, Gojira, Dimmu Borgir, Opeth, John Lennon to name a few), and even a few South American, Asian and Australian bands. But most of my collection is American, which forces my hand to go with the U.S.

Also, an interesting point needs to be addressed. What should the Jimi Hendrix Experience be considered? Their frontman was American, and a lot of the music and lyric styling was quintessentially American, but he did get his start in Great Britain, and his rhythm section was British. ???????

Oh god bro please don't think I'm a newb. I own London Calling, Give 'Em Enough Rope and the self titled debut, and greatly treasure all 3. I was only referring to the Clash's 80's output.
