I mean that, according to a implicit idea in this poll, many members have voted thinking of pop and rock bands only.

Now, in the case of a non-Anglosphere thread (only hypothetical for the moment), I think the terms should be as precise as possible (pop, rock, contemporary popular or whatever). But, to be fair, we must admit that this hasn't happened at this poll.

Okay, whether we do that or not, what does it have to do with my comment about including Mexico, Cuba and Turkey?

And what about all the African music sung in English?

Er... what about it? You didn't answer the question I asked you.

My answer is: it depends on the criterion chosen. For instance, if we talk about rock.... Cuban rock music?

You may say: well, it's about making a thread equivalent to this one, but for the non-English music. OK, but in that case we have a problem: incoherence.

Okay, well this thread certainly hasn't been restricted to rock music so why would a non-anglosphere one be? I think restricting it to a specific genre gives an unfair advantage to the countries with the closest association with that style of music and renders a discussion of international music kind of pointless.

For me U.S. by far. I don't know why, but for some reason I can't relate to many UK bands. I think it's because U.S. is a little closer to home(Canadian). Honestly I only really like a few bands from UK and Canada, and maybe 1 band for each from a few non-English speacking countries. Other than that all the music I listen to originates in the US.

...in theory, but in practice... For instance, Jamaica was added yesterday... Regarding the "International" one, it was only an hypothesis, so if finally it is unfeasible, no problem.

Not sure what you're getting at with the Jamaica comment but I disagree that this thread has been implicitly about rock. There's a lot of rock mentioned for sure, but a read through this thread shows people talking about folk, country, hip hop, blues, jazz, soul, electronica, etc.
