Question Looking for similar songs!~

So I'm looking for songs (generally rock, either hard or soft) that have a solid slower beat for the most part, and then pick up to something fast and energetic in the chorus or doing certain parts -- "Start A Fire" by Ryan Star is the best example I can find. Anyone have any ideas?? Any replies are appreciated!

Default Songs similar to "Black Rainbows" off of Crystal Methods CD

I am in Love with the combination of the background sound and the voice Stefanie King Warfield (featured singer). Unfortunately it seems that she never made any other songs anywhere that I could find..

Anyone know of any songs similar to this - a bit of techno, industrial, etc. with a beautiful voice? It sounds a bit like Enya style with drawn out vocals, but with a techno touch. Unfortunately can't link the song as I haven't posted 15 or more.. It is a beautiful song though and if you happen to hear it and are reminded of something beautiful, please let me know.

Default Where can I find this type of music?

I have been searching for this type of music for a long time with no luck... Any of you have any suggestions?

It is a very ethereal cosmic type sound (my interpretation) and I would love to find a track or tracks to use to meditate with.

The only way I can describe out to you is for you to listen to the "back ground music" of this song by believe it or not, Deadmau5. The song is "Closer" and the part I am interested in is in the beginning between time :37 and 1:40. I found the song on Spotify.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thx

Default That one rock/swing/glam beat: you know the one (any suggestions?)

Hey...brand noob here, wondering why I haven't been around before. I aim to prove my worth, but I can't resist one burning question: do you know this beat? Do you know other good songs with this beat?

I like the Glam Beat (TM). It makes me smile and dance around the room. It makes me want to make other people smile and dance around the room. My current goal is to slam a bunch of songs with this beat (with or without beat matching...?) into a ~3-hour mix that will run people over at some point during the dancing and make them ask to be run over again backwards.

My immediate target is Burning Man, which has more 4/4 than anyone deserves or needs but not nearly enough 6/8 (or however you choose to write it). Assuming I can pull it off, I'll also post the results on YouTube, SoundCloud, and this thread. I'll be sure to credit everyone whose suggestions make it into the final mix by musicbanter username, unless you opt out.

Here's my current list, with a Spotify link. I'm a child of the '80s, and that sensibility presumably drives what I've got so far. Can you help me compensate so that I can make people go "Whaaa?...oh, cool" regardless of when they were born?

Many thanks,
raffishtenant

Hey. New poster. I pretty much never listen to punk and I haven't found much I've enjoyed (old stuff or new stuff). This past year I started listening to The Red Dons.

I would link to some of their stuff on youtube, but I'm not clear on whether that's acceptable here. It's on there though.

Anyway, I like their sound and I'm looking for any other punk rock bands that are similar. Thanks.

Question Looking for Suggestions (female vocals)

Hello everyone. This is not only my first time posting, but it is also my first time visiting this site. I will admit now that I am not very familiar with this site but I thought it was a good place to ask for help.

For a very long time I have been searching for a contemporary hard rock group with a female vocalist that is good. Now when I say good I mean quality on par with the likes of Tool, Karnivool, Lesser Key... More progressive, technical rock. For some reason it has always bothered me that I have never found a top notch hard rock band that has a good femme lead.

I know that opinions on what is good can vary wildly, but so far nothing I have discovered has scratched that itch. I'm aware of groups like The Dead Weather and Auf Der Maur, but I'm looking for something with more of an edge; something deeper, smarter and harder.

The closest I ever came was an obscure Canadian group called Sonica (the music was decent and the vocals were close to perfect), but they dropped off the face of the earth.

So yeah, the search continues. No, I'm not looking for Evanescence or Otep (no offense to anyone that likes them) but I promise to give due attention to any suggestions I haven't already investigated myself.

Thanks!
