Yea i liked Gramatik, especialy:
DreamBIG, MoarJive, Drink...Rakija, Day of...Glory, Doing my thang, Balkan Express, Oriental Job...and Gray Tea (this is very slow and specific but great nonetheless)

Emancipator was even better, out of his whole discography i found just a few average tracks, all rest was either very good or brilliant!

Many thx for ur suggestion - it was a bullzeye

I can't find anything after 2000. I'm not interested in rap, jive, hip hop, etc., I do not consider it music. Poetry, perhaps, in a stretch. Mostly it's just chunk-a-chunk.

Tried several tunes mentioned here so far, only one I liked was Gregory Isakov. Lots of great stuff is on sale after 2000, but invariably they are tunes from the 50's to the late 90's.

Now I'm off to check out Isakov's stuff.

Try: Electric Light Orchestra
Chris Isaak, Dave Edmunds, Ray Charles
ABBA
Buddy Holly, The Kinks, Leonard Cohen, Los Lobos, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Mac Wiseman, Moody Blues, Merle Haggard, Nazareth, Neal Young, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Otis Redding, Rolling Stones, The Who, Pretenders, R.E.M., Randy Newman, The Drifters, Slim Whitman, Stanley Brothers, Steve Winwood, Steve Miller, Toby Keith, Tom Petty, Traveling Wilburys, Warren Zevon, Wayland Jennings, Willie Nelson, Yardbirds, ZZ Top..................
Cheap Trick
Creedence Clearwater Revival
Deke Leonard, Delfonics, Leadbelly, Desmond Deker, Crystals, Dells, Platters, Ben E. King, Chuck Berry
Delaney & Bonnie
Dire Straits
Emmy Lou Harris
Enya, Don Henley, Prince, The Eagles, Elton John, Fats Domino, Fleetwood Mack, George Thorogood, Gram Parsons, Hank Snow, The Hollies, Jackson Brown, Roy Orbison, Jim Carroll Band, Jim Kweskin, John Fahey, Johnny Cash.............

Default Songs with similar Acoustic Guitar as Curren$y's Bottom of the Bottle

I found this song on Spotify the other day: "Bottom of the Bottle" by Curren$y & August Alsina

It has a really cool/chill acoustic guitar backbeat (the kind that you can listen to in the car on a summer day), and I've been having a really difficult time finding similar songs or even the exact genre.

What I've already searched for: "acoustic rap" (result: mostly covers), "acoustic guitar" (result: overly broad genre; I can only describe as "love songs" or "campfire music"), mellow guitar (result: more love songs), acoustic chill rap (result: nothing on Spotify)

I also tracked down the guitarist, Geoffro Cause, and didn't anything that matched up to the theme.

Similar songs with good acoustic guitar backbeats:
  • Suga Suga - Baby Bash
  • Ride With Me - Nelly
  • Light up - Baby Bash
  • Downtown - August Alsina

IMO these all belong in the same specific "genre", but what is it? I've never had such a hard time finding a pinpoint-specific genre before, it may be because my background is mostly in the rap/hip-hop area.

At this point I don't really think there's a specific name for it. What other songs/artists are out there which go along with this acoustic guitar backbeat theme?

FYI: this would help a lot of fellow Googlers, who are mostly rap listeners, looking to enter the world of acoustic artists/songs. August Alsina is a Billboard artist, yet there are no similar song/artist recommendations from Google or Spotify.

Hi guys! I was hoping to draw on the knowledge of the music experts here for some music track recommendations.

I'm creating a video slideshow for the graduating residency class at my hospital. For those unfamiliar, training to become a physician involves a lot of work and time (4 years schooling, 3-7 years of intense training). These guys are at the end of the road and about to enter the real world. It's a big day for them to finally finish.

For the video, I plan to have a selection of photographs and then sync it to the music (fade in/out, pan, slow zoom in/out, etc), so it will be an actual video, not a powerpoint. My personal music preferences are what they play on di.fm's vocal trance and trance music channel, some big house music, so I am probably not the best source of music.

My plan is to have the video be separated into two sections. One represents them working hard, taking care of patients, at lectures, studying, exhausted and asleep on the couch or chair during a 24-hour shift (basically at the hospital), having intense discussions with their attending (supervising physician), presenting at conferences, etc. The other section will be them having fun outside of work, so at dinner get-togethers, on their retreats, getting married, being themselves, getting wild, etc. I may add a section at the beginning to introduce each of the graduating persons in the video, so an appropriate song for that, too.

I hope that description can convey the mood that I wanted to have for the music. I hope the experts here can offer some recommendations. One requirement is to have vocals in the tracks. As much as I love pure trance beats, they would probably disapprove. Thank you!

Xilex: You might want to look into Chris Issak, Electric Light Orchestra, Emmy Lou Harris, Enya. I listed quite a few several rows up, but these are bright guys, should appreciate good stuff. You could blow them away with some Dave Edmunds.............. Best of luck with your project!

Xilex: When is your Class graduating? I can send you a disc or two (roughly 70 min.) on each. Music for adults. I like the term "Trance Beats". Perfect!!!
