I'm looking for some music in the vain of old 'jangle pop' R.E.M. (records like Chronic Town, Murmur and Reckoning). I have already checked out bands like The dB's, The Soft Boys and The Smiths, but somehow they don't compare (not that they aren't great bands). Does anyone have suggestions? Thanks in advance

! I've already encountered some of those names on my search and I already knew The Feelies (I love them) but I've never sat down to take a good listen. I'm totally going to do that now though, hearing this from a R.E.M. fan (according to your avatar, right :P?)

You got that right! You may also like the band Love Tractor. Couldn't find any of their stuff on Youtube though

I'm a fan of Barbara...love her songs "L'Aigle Noir" and "La Solitude"...can anyone recommend any similar artists?

how about the dresdon dolls? They're more like dark humour...but some of their songs are creepy nonetheless

Artists I've already gotten into so far: Fear Factory, Marilyn Manson (if you can even consider the trash he is doing now Industrial. No I'm talking about early Manson), Ministry, Nine Inch Nails, Rob Zombie and White Zombie.

My favourite Industrial-type album is White Zombie - 'Astro-Creep: 2000' if that helps. Thankya in advance.

You definitely have to try Skinny Puppy, one of the weirdest and best industrial bands ever and a huge influence on the bands you've mentioned.

Or try Front Line Assembly

That was the first Skinny Puppy song I've heard. You're right about it being weird. Some of it reminded me of early Butthole Surfers, I don't know if that comparison is really right though, but that's the vibe I got. The music video is very nightmare-inducing too, pretty cool hahaha...

That Front Line Assembly song is good too. Love the dark sounding vocals on it, they sound anthemic, being set to a good beat.
