Thanks a bunch! Is Sigur Ros avantgarde? They are fairly popular and I thought they were considered in that genre...

No Sigur Ros are classed as Post Rock which is essentially film soundtrack music-ambient and atmospheric. They are good though. I second the Kayo Dot album. Try Maudlin Of The Well as well.
