It's like Bill Hicks said, whats a worse influence on kids? Rock stars who live a life of sex and drugs but made great music or mass marketed products that teaches our kids to accept mediocrity? Which is acceptible because it's "safe"?

I'd rather my kid be a drug addict than the next Britney Spears, and probably also a drug addict.

I see... What was wrong with the good old chastity belt? If they're gonna go puritan, why not go the whole way?

The bulk might even make people think they actually have... well, you know, and are in fact, brothers, and not sisters...

Agreed.

Not to mention there are a few examples of great rock star that didn't do drugs (Ian Anderson, Frank Zappa...). And great example of some that conquered substance abuse too and came out stronger (Clapton, Iggy...). And examples of people who were thought safe and really weren't (er... Elvis).

He was into his medieval troubadour character, but if you ever see his interviews, even from the 70s, 80s you'll have no doubt that he didn't do drugs. Almost annoyingly posh, enough to make the Queen's English blush in shame. Smoked liked a chimney though, which is probably what ruined his voice.

Actually...
