Who would guess that Eric Clapton (the post-1972 incarnation) made one of rock's great double albums (Layla & Other Assorted Love Songs)?

Brand New really changed sounds with "The Devil and God Are Raging Inside." At least IMO, I liked the change.

And Panic! At The Disco absolutely FAILED with their new CD. They changed from a caberet sort of sound to crappy indie-but-not-really-indie shiit.

I agree about Brand New, I like all their albums, but there's no comparison between them.
