I'm a big RHCP fan and I think Kiedis can't sing. Frusciante has some great backup vocals though.

And of course he fills a part in the band, but in my opinion, he's not as indispensable as, say, Drozd.
Dosen't make him a horrible singer.

He's not, and even so. I think if a band is good enough, it makes an otherwise lousy singer passable, it's all about style and chemestry. Coyne fits with the Lips, and Kiedis fits with the Chili's.

Lets focus on singers we can all agree on, without picking the VERY obvious choices.

Lets see... Michael McDonald. Now that's how this thread should work.

Michael McDonald!? He's probably the best man in the backing vocals business? Ever heard his work with Steely Dan!?

Steely Dan are great.

He's a decent backing vocalist, I just hate him as a lead singer.

Rod Stewart is another one.

Joanna Newsom.
I think she pushes the pseudo-individual (ooh, get me) card a bit much.
The harp playing does looks quite skillful, but I've never played harp so I'm not one to judge.

Ian Brown

I like the Stone Roses, they were a great band, but Ian Brown clearly cannot sing. And his solo stuff sucks donkey balls.

LOL, agreed. I unfortunately heard a few tracks of his solo stuff...YUCK!!!! I'm also not a giant Stone Roses fan, I do like some of their stuff, but afterawhile, Ian's voice kinda grated on my nerves.

F.E.A.R is one of the best tracks ever laid down. It's damn brilliant. I like a lot of Brown's solo stuff personally.
