I found a better-sounding example.
His voice sounds a lot less low than in some versions I've heard.

I was listening to Robert Plant last night, trying to figure out what I liked about his songs 15 years ago. I'm having a hard time finding any that I like now.

I remember, for example, listening to "Tall Cool One" in the '90s and enjoying the whole song. Now when I listen, I don't care for most of it (including the lyrics) and there is only one part of the song that I like:

Robert Plant - "Tall Cool One"
I like the chorus, heard for the first at 1:30, because of its glittery, chime-like, dreamy feeling. I think I may simply like bells, regardless of the song! I don't like this video, though. It seems very contrived to me and makes the song sound even more shallow than it is. The video also makes Robert Plant and Co. appear egotistical (singing in front of their own mega-images on the screen). Robert Plant looks like he is trying too hard to appear cool, which is un-cool, unless he is doing it tongue-in-cheek. And I don't think he is. :/

Maybe he's actually trying to appear uncool so observers will feel better about themselves.

Phantom, I like Jay Reatard's "Oh It's Such A Shame" quite a bit, especially after 1:20 when it gets noisier and sounds more serious. What's a shame is that he died at age 29! I just read about that. His song reminds me a little of Polvo's "Time Isn't On My Side" due to the guitar.

I read on Wikipedia that critics disliked Rage Against the Machine for its "fiercely polemical music, which brewed sloganeering leftist rants against corporate America, cultural imperialism, and government oppression into a Molotov cocktail of punk, hip-hop, and thrash." "A Molotov cocktail of punk, hip-hop, and thrash." That's a beautiful compliment intended perhaps as a criticism!

"Testify" inspired me to listen to more songs by Rage Against the Machine. I liked this one especially:

Rage Against the Machine - "Wake Up"
I love that they work so hard to share what they've learned about people's violent, underhanded misuse of power...and they do it by creating music that sounds like rage feels. The beginning of the song reminds me of Led Zeppelin's "Kashmir" guitar intro, which I like. Then it shifts to a bass line more intense than, but reminiscent of, the bass line in Muse's "Supermassive Black Hole" before the lyrics start. I also enjoyed the documentary film footage someone used for this video:

Chapman stick with an inverted 5th -- that's the first one I've seen played.

That's the first one I've ever heard of!

Here's a song about soup and supercolliders that uses the chapman stick:

Tony Levin - "Soup"
Tony Levin and Michael Bernier on the chapman stick
Pat Mastelloto on percussion

EDIT - I also hadn't heard of Occupy Wall Street before: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Occupy_Wall_Street

I'm listening to this Spotify playlist that has every song that hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 from 1958-2011. That's well over 1000 songs. It's been two days and I'm only at 1972.http://open.spotify.com/user/hoxsd/playlist/2ABf55TlOV5ZvpHL7BYVCY

I don't like the lame soup-ercollider premise, the unmusical rendering of the
uninspired lyrics like a coffee house poetry reading, or the jerky start-and-stop music.
Some of the stick riffs are briefly interesting though. Thanks for sharing, Vegan.

There's a lot happening that isn't being covered by the major news outlets.
Search youtube for 'Occupy Wall Street'. Also check out Keith Olberman on Current TV.

Neither did I!
