Haven't listened to this album in a while.
The beautiful piano, Kan Mikami's raw singing and the subtle drumming make for one damn sweet song.

I've been meaning to listen to some James Brown for a while now, and I'm glad I'm finally making the time. He and his band have an energy that puts most rock 'n' roll of the time to shame. This sounds like it must have been one ****ing fun show.

Holy. ****ing. **** BITCH!!! This song is actually heavy. Like... Black Sabbath heavy. The longer it goes on the more of an aural assault it becomes, until the music becomes deafening and James Brown ends up sounding like the blackest banshee you ever did hear. Godlike.

God damn ****ing ****. I was digging that last album, but Soul on Top is wrecking some ****. It's got some of that old school reserve that doesn't connect with my modern sensibilities, but it's just such a wall of sound that when this album hits, it slams into you with a wall of sound and energy. You'd think that even James Brown would be hampered by a big bang jazz orchestra, but the man makes the whole thing his own and bends them to his will like the Hulk on a meth binge.

I'm simply too drunk to stop posting about this.

For some reason, sometimes when there's a respected band you don't particularly like, and then you listen to other bands of the same genre that you think just straight up suck, the first band actually ends up sounding better. Like, when you see how a genre can be done wrong it illustrates how it can be done right or something. And so I'm starting to like Dying Fetus.
