First time listening to this band, and I was both hoping for more balls than this band exhibits and not really expecting them. This basically sounds like lame indie twats playing indie pop with a fake, toothless punk rock influence. There's some energy when they speed things up, but absolutely no bite or edge, and their vocalist totally gives them away as both indie twats and poseurs.

This isn't awful or anything, but nobody but other than lame indie twats who probably don't listen to any actual punk would think this was anything special. **** hipsters.

Cliff Edwards - Ukulele Ike Sings Again - Disneyland - 1956

nothing from the above album seems to be on youtube, but here's an earlier version of one of the tunes on it, "Sunday," from 1926. (The Disneyland album features Edwards recordings from the 50s, where he rerecorded some of his old tunes, but recorded some tunes he hadn't recorded before, too.)

Cliff Edwards - I'm a Bear in a Lady's Boudoir - Yazoo - 1975

"Hard Hearted Hannah" (1924)

=====================================

Cliff Edwards - The Vintage Recordings of Cliff Edwards (Ukulele Ike) - Take Two - 1996

"It Goes Like This, That Funny Melody" (1928)
