Well, I gave them both a listen and I gotta say... for the message/emotion each of the songs was trying to deliver. Portishead (who've I've never heard of before now actually) is the winner to me. It bothered me at first but once the synth (i think thats what it was?) started playing I realised its a pretty heavy track. Good one. Thanks Jackhammer.

Wow, I'm really surprised so many people have such a distaste for Portishead.

Portishead for me. Sometimes minimalist is the best way to go and i think that beat is inspired.

I’m going to vote Hendrix here. I haven’t heard much Portishead before now (haven’t been too impressed with what little bit I’d heard), so I made sure to give both songs a complete listen. They still don’t grab me. Her voice was beautiful, but everything else was tedious and boring. My impression of the Hendrix song was the complete opposite of the other. Hendrix just had that vibe that keeps things interesting for me...and I’m in love with that guitar.

Hendrix....Yummy, I love basically every song by him.

Hmm my flatmate likes that Portishead song as well but I don't really understand its appeal, even though I do admire them for trying something different.
So yeah, I prefer Jimi's Machine Gun. |
