Lowercase Noises - Marshall

I loved Seafront immensely. It balanced out well between songs that are almost pure Ambient, to really upbeat Post Rock. This one was ALL Ambient and isn't very engaging unfortunately.

Naomi is a great song but the rest is pretty so-so. Maybe it'll be a grower?

it sounds like they played a mix of their favorite songs to an audience. it isn't different from the originals at all.

That's disappointing... I would have thought they'd spruce things up a bit for the live experience...

Mogwai Fear Satan in it's original form is sheer freaking artistic genius... I can't see how shortening it would improve it any... ugh, such a bummer...

This definitely won't make me popular with people around here, but as I already only seem to evoke a minuscule amount of musical interest in the members here, fuck it.

This album is booooooooring. Just like every Sigur Ros, Mogwai, Explosions in the Sky, This Will Destroy You, and Mono album I have listened to. Sure it is well orchestrated music, but it sounds more like a soundtrack to a movie than an actual album. In fact while listening to Lift Your Skinny Fists... I actually forgot there was music going. If the listener actually forgets that music is playing then something has gone horribly wrong.

The album reminds me of garnish, it has its place, but you're not going to eat an entire plate of it. If this accompanied a video or something then perhaps I'd be more interested in it, but as it stands right now the album just doesn't have what it takes to keep me interested.
I can't disagree with you there. I played the first disc last summer and never got around to the second one.

I take it you're a fan of their second album? I like On Avery Island much more.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

Lovesliescrushing - Bloweyelashwish
I'm rarely let down by albums but really don't know what's going on here or what to make of this, it sounds like experimentation gone too far. It isn't so much shoegazing as taping your eyeballs to your effects pedals and forgetting to play something resembling music. They sound like they're trying to build on MBV's experimentalism but completely leaving out the songs and melodies. I couldn't even finish this album, it's just pointless and inaccessible. I dunno maybe it will click on the 100th listen.
