i did read the rest of your post as well as the rest of the posts about Chuck Berry, and yes many of them are valid, but not liking his music because of some indiscretions isn't.

Why isn't it? I don't understand what's with this music history gestapo who insist you have to be for an artist even if their music does nothing for you or the artists you listen to.

if you don't like the music, fine, but at least have a reason pertaining to the actual music.

Me not liking his music or caring for it does pertain to the actual music. If it was different then it is or at all stimulating to me then I would vote yes; but that isn't the case.

I don't think you have to be for an artist if they don't appeal to you. I can't speak for other members of the gestapo (), but I certainly respect your opinion. In the case of someone like Chuck Berry I'm just throwing his level of influence out there as something to consider even if his music isn't something that would make it onto your personal playlist. The man's influence on rock and genres related to rock is vast, so vast and ubiquitous that I think sometimes it's hard for people to even see it because a lot of it has come to be just taken as a given.

Yes but I'm not a fan of rock music or many of its offshoots. Him influencing the Beatles means nothing to me.
