Despite my best efforts to get into this band I simply do not see the appeal to them whatsoever. I don't have a problem with the chimerical and otherwise wacky, the Residents seem to defy any sort of generalization for the very sake of being unpredictable. Or maybe it's just over my head. Whichever is true I doubt I'll "get" them any time soon.

Oh HELL YES. One of my absolute favorite bands. Their albums are so varied, innovative, bizarre, brilliant.... These guys MUST get in.

If Captain Beefheart gets in The Residents should, especially since their music is superior in every way.

Of course they are through and not just because they are 'different'. to keep your identity secret for 30 odd years and still crank out some of the most brain warping music out there?

In for sure. You don't have to like them but damn they are original.
