PM it to me though. King Crimson are currently untaken by the way.

Just some suggestions, thanks for spearheading the initiative I'm certainly MB history books will look back on you fondly.
I dunno, i like the element of surprise! I'll be adding a list of previously nominated yeah, and i might change the title each week as well actually, good idea!

On second thought you're right, lets leave the element of surprise.

One more suggestion, any chance of cleaning up the thread. Deleting posts related to confusion on the nominating process.

I'm sorry, but anyone who doesn't put Led Zeppelin in the Hall of Fame doesn't know what their talking about! Behind the Beatles, they're probably the most influential band of all time whether you like em or not.

Well unless we get a tremendious flood in of elitist Indie kids before the end of the day, they are pretty much a shoe in now.

I've voted 'no' simply because on a personal level I just can't justify having them in my top 10, never having had the seemingly obligatory Zeppelin phase. The debut is definitive, some tracks here and there; but to me they just pioneered ****-rock and Spinal Tap cliché... apologies to the Devoted. I suppose somebody had to drag the blues through the ****ter at some point.

Are Sabbath a possibility? In terms of importance to contemporary styles their influence was just as (if not more) widespread. I realise they were cheesy but it's Sabbath...

The show must go on...

Nominated by 15Steps

Joy Division

I think Joy Division would be a great band to nominate for the hall of fame, and there are many reasons why. My first reason being that the band has released two of the greatest albums of all times, and are basically pioneers of the post punk genre. Ian Curtis wrote some of the greatest lyrics in history and sung said lyrics with what could be the most recognizable voices in music history. Although short lived, Joy Division are known as one of the best bands of all time and have had a huge impact on modern music.

You know what to do...

Hell yes. Two albums that are held in reverence by virtually everyone who has heard them.

I like Joy Division, appreciate them quite a bit for what they and the Bunnymen did. But by no account are the two albums they made (neither of which I would consider spectacular) considered to have a lasting impact. I like Ian Curtis, I really do, but their influence on post-punk is not definitive enough to have them included in a Hall of Fame. And despite how many fanboys are on this site, I think too many people romanticize more about Curtis's suicide than JD's music. Please compare them to the Bunnymen and JAMC before you shout me down.

A definite "no" on my behalf. Sorry.
