Absolutely. As much of a no-brainer as the Beatles. Their influence on music is a bit ridiculous.

I really havent heard enough to say yes or no..Im not gonna vote. I didnt like what I did listen to, just not my thing. That said I know their impact has been big..so its a null vote for me.

Yes, for the reasons stated in the nominations. VU & Nico is one of my favourite three albums of the 60s (and the competition is pretty tough).

Powerful yes, if only for the first 2 albums. I can see their influence in probably about half of the stuff i listen to.

Yeah, alot of times when talking to people about music Ill argue that The Velvet Underground are more influential than the Beatles. Definately a yes vote. Even if the departure of John Cale made them less sonically challenging, Lou Reed is still an amazing songwriter, and it shows on 'The Velvet Underground', 'VU', and 'Loaded'.

I'm going to have to vote No, I like VU, but they are not in my HOF. I'm in no way taking anything from their influence on the music world, but I simply don't like them enough to put them in the HOF.

Even though they're one of the most overrated groups ever, I still love their first two albums. Another "yes" vote here.

I hear their sound in a million bands I listen to. I was listening to The Vaselines today for example, and it's easy to hear how much they lifted from the Velvets. Their music has inspired a very diverse range of musicians. More importantly, I think they're great. The first two albums are fantastic and groundbreaking, and the 3rd is a great pop album.

Resounding yes from moi!
