I had a similar but opposite experience. Eddie was fascinating and scary when I was a kid and when I heard the band they were 'mild' enough for me to enjoy (I have no idea what I was expecting) so I got the double benefit of hearing a band I liked and getting to sport Eddie gear which scared other people who weren't in the know. Ive got to admit that I may owe my love of Iron Maiden to whichever artist painted the cover of 'Killers'

He didn't get the votes despite being one of the most influential figures in the history of rock music.

Well that just highlights the music ignorance of a lot of people on here really, lol. Oh well, there goes any chance of me nominating anyone non-obscure.

It's got nothing to do with ignorance.

When was the last time you ever saw Chuck Berry being discussed on this forum?

Exactly, he isn't.

Why would you put in someone who only gets listened to on a regular basis by less than a handful of people?
He might be influential but I can't remember the last time I actually put one of his albums on & listened to it.

People should try look at the circumstances before throwing out insults like 'ignorant'

I agree with you that it isn't about ignorance, and I wouldn't call someone ignorant because of how they voted. I was actually just bringing up the subject to be a wiseass.

I would have voted No for Chuck Berry because I don't like his music much. In a lot of cases, I dislike his music.
But I don't deny his influence. It seems fairly common to think of this Hall Of Fame as a list of 'Best/Most Influential' artists in the general opinion of MB members as a group. Is it? I always vote based on how I personally feel about the artists' music but maybe I'm doing it wrong

Nope, it's not wrong. Everyone does it differently. I personally have voted yes for acts whose music I don't like and no for those that I love, on some occasions. I look at a variety of things before voting, but that doesn't mean that my way is better or more valid.

I voted yes, even though the OP was one of the worst representations of Iron Maiden I have ever seen.

Can you be more specific?
