Green River, Willy and The Poor Boys and Cosmo's Factory are excellent albums overall so definitely.

I don't think that's fair. Anyone who votes should make an honest choice, and not vote just to move things along, I consider that cheating and counterproductive to the whole purpose of the hall of fame.

Those contributions favor a "yes" vote of a CCR nomination.

The biggest reason for a "no" is this list of far more significant bands from the roughly the same era (1967-1977) who haven't even been nominated for the Hall of Fame

The Band (as in Music From Big Pink)
The Grateful Dead
The Jefferson Airplane
Brian Eno
The Paul Butterfield Blues Band
Janis Joplin (or Big Brother and the Holding Company)
Arthur Lee & Love
The Byrds (Inventors of both country rock & folk rock)
Taj Mahal
Cream
Roxy Music
Joni Mitchell
The Doors
Eric Burdon & the Animals
Fairport Convention
Jethro Tull
John Cale
Ry Cooder
David Bowie
Moby Grape
Van Morrisson
Patti Smith
Sandy Denny

I've only seen 8 of the 16 bands on my list live but I know all their recorded works like I know the lines on the palm of my hand. I love Credence Clearwater Revival but CCR was a 2nd tier band whose musical legacy fall short of the artists I've listed above. There may be a place for CRR in the Hall of Fame, but it would be a travesty to nominate and induct CRR prior to consideration of the artists I've listed

For that reason I'm voting "no" on the CCR nomination but I'm not ruling out a "yes" vote at some point in the future after there's an up or down vote on some of CCR's more worthy musical peers from that era.
And that's the only reason you're voting against them?

Remember that the hall of fame is supposed to be more a reflection of the forum's tastes than an attempt at objective inductions. A lot of those bands just aren't popular or well liked enough on this forum, don't hold a grudge against this band just because they have a more universial appeal.

I'd say CCR is more worthy than a lot of those anyway.

No, it's about the band being good enough, or liked enough to be inducted to the HoF.
... and speak for yourself, not for "the forum".

Yes, catchy tunes and some of the best riffs ever.

That's what I meant by the forum, the tastes of each individual.

This guy didn't go by his tastes, he's using an objective criteria which isn't the point of the hall of fame.

He's also listing a number of bands who haven't been nominated yet, despite the fact that he himself hasn't been bothered to nominate any of them.

Well according to his taste, these guys aren't as good as the others of that era.

Fact Check: I nominated and wrote the nomination post for Bob Marley who was inducted last year. I'd do more nominations but I think forum members should also have a chance to nominate their favorites even if I end up voting against them. I apologize if my musical taste isn't a mirror of your own tastes.

I've been in the forum a year and I've done 1 of the 18 nominations which is more than my share. I'll probably make another one during my second year but I'm not about to sandbag the forum with a flood of nominations because that that would make me an ill mannered troll, wouldn't it?

I'm not sure why I'm getting backlash for posting my honest opinion on a thread where my honest opinion was asked for. I even got an email from a forum moderator asking me to post on the CCR nomination. I'm at a loss to understand what's behind that distainful attitude of yours. Am I not entitled to express my own honest opinion as a forum member?

I don't harbor any ill will toward you nor do I feel morally superior to anyone else in this forum. I'm a member of this forum to share and discuss music. I'm not sure why you're here but if you need to pass judgement on my to validate yourself, at least have your facts straight before you post your verdict.

If you want to discuss music then do so, but posting an emoticon with rolling eyes and insinuating that I have some sort of personality disorder isn't discussing music.

^^Lol.

Relax, nobody is saying you have a personality disorder.

All me and BooBoo were saying is that you nominate yes or no depending on how you feel about the band itself. Your reason for voting no seemed to be about the fact that certain other bands haven't been put through yet, as they haven't been nominated. Which suggests that if they were all already through that your vote would be a 'yes'.

Just judge on the band itself. If you don't like them enough then fine, nobody is going to judge you one way or the other, we all have our own tastes.

Creedence Clearwater Revivals first five albums are one of the greatest runs of albums in the history of rock music, everyone a must have. "Creedence Clearwater Revival", "Bayou Country", "Green River", "Willie And The Poor Boys", and "Cosmo's Factory" came out in a two year period between 1968 & 1970 and even though their last couple of albums weren't all that great they did have some great tunes in "Have You Ever Seen The Rain", "Hey Tonight", "Someday Never Comes" and "Sweet Hitch-Hiker". Although not on the same level of The Beatles, The Rolling Stones or Bob Dylan, they are in the same class as groups like The Band, The Who, The Kinks and Led Zeppelin.

Where would the grunge rock movement have been without John Fogerty's flannel shirts and crunchy guitars?
