I just can't find too many modern bands that I like. I mainly like prog and psycadelic rock. Some of my favourite bands are-
Rush
Pink Floyd
Porcupine Tree (the only modern band that I like)
Yes
Jefferson Airplane
Iron Butterfly
King Crimson
Led Zeppelin

If some of you could suggest some modern bands with similar styles, I'd like to try them out (I hate hip hop, electronica and stuff like that, as evident from my list :P).

How much of those other genres have you actually looked into? I have a similar taste in bands to you, but I'm part of a Music Club (on the another forum) and we had to do this Danish hip-hop/electronica/other undefinable genres and I thought I'd hate it. It's one of my favourite albums right now.

It's amazing to me that people are able to hate entire genres of music.

I'm generally not too great at recommending people music, but you might like this.

my point exactly.

They hear some of that genre on the radio and go "ugh. That's ****. Don't want that." and they don't actually know anything about the genre. E.G.
If he had just heard some rock on the radio and not liked it, therefor making rock crap, he would never of found those other bands (pt, pf, lz, etc) which are in sub-genres of rock and don't really represent mainstream rock at all.

In saying that, I am yet to find something that is proper rap that I like.

For me it refers to songs that are entirely raps instead of songs that just incorporate rap elements/influenced vocals.
