Yes

Close to the Edge >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >> The Yes Album > Fragile > Going for the One > Relayer >>>>>> Tales of Topographic Oceans >> Time and a Word > Yes >>> Tormado

As good as The Yes Album is, Close to the Edge is one of 2 albums I can say is perfect.

As far as the pre 90125 albums go that is spot on and I also agree with the exact positions of each choice. BTW you forgot Drama or did you forget it as it has those two from the Buggles on it?

i'd prefer a complete overview, i.e. every album

Fly From Here has those 2 guys from Buggles as well, it's pleasant enough

I probably should have qualified it as a pre-90125 list, and I did legitimately forget about Drama. I would have it a fraction ahead of Tormato.

As for post 90125... I think 90125 is a good album, but it's not my personal taste at all. I did like Keys to Ascension, but it's the only other album I've heard from then. As much as I like Yes, it's hard for me to get beyond their early work.

Soft Machine Second > Soft Machine Third > Soft Machine Fourth > Soft Machine

Dustin Hoffman and John Travolta declined the role for the same reason. Have you heard Fifth? It's better than Fourth, IMO.

I`ve never been a huge fan of 90125 either and actually would sooner listen to the follow-up Big Generator. Keys of Ascension is a good live album but Yessongs is the definitive Yes live experience. Apart from Magnification all the rest of the later Yes material is largely a waste of time and not worth the trouble.
