best, yeah that's definitely debatable, but crazy... no contest.

and.... where did Costes get the inspiration to eat the poo on stage??? at this point options are rather limited when your stage act revolves around shocking people. regardless of what you do it will either be 'something GG did first', or 'one of the few things GG never got around to doing before dying' either way, still revolving around GG.

and even with the new qualifications, lyrically, Allin still makes Patton seem like a nice boy. (and i'm a HUGE Patton fan).

does anyone else TOTALLY hear Marylin Manson's 'The Beautiful People' every time they hear that Battles tune? i kept trying to convince friends to cover the Manson tune for a long time and they hated the idea, then turned around and tried telling me how amazing this new tune was - they didn't like me pointing out the similarities hahahaha

oh, i know, it's similar, but i don't think any of the members of battles are manson fans. the singer's into classical music and the rest of them are into classic rock, and other post rock.

i'm not a manson fan either but i heard that song and that's what immediately sprung to mind. but i like the vocals in the battles song better

Ya I agree Dave, the singing, floor tom seems to be tuned the same... it sounds like a steal to me.

yeah it's kind of hard to pretend like it's not a ripoff of sorts. fans or not, you would have had to TRY (hard) to avoid hearing TBP in the late 90s. i have a really hard time believing no one in the band or involved with them noticed the similarities.

ultimately i'm no Manson fan either, i just recognize a killer groove / riff combo when i hear it, i heard it then, and i hear it now. don't really care who's playing it or how it's being dressed up, it's just far more recognized as being a Manson bit.

touche

pretty much anything disgusting done in music is going to be compared to GG Allin and almost always fall short
