To tell you the truth, I haven't even heard of Lone until My friend recommended this to me. Apparently Lone is a part of Kona Triangle, and I probably will check Lone out when my internet decides to be faster. It reminds me of Selected Ambient Works 85-92 era Aphex Twin. The album also has a distinctly tropical feel, as heard on Airlock and Mango Rubicon. This is a good album for fans of Flying Lotus and (from what I've heard among the electronic community) Lone.

I'm listening to this now, and it's definitely more enjoyable than Lone's stuff that I've heard. Just found out that the other members of this collaboration are Keaver & Brause, who I like! Their album The Middle Way from last year is worth checking out, especially being that you're a BoC fan. It's like a mixture of glitch-hop and BoC. I hear elements of that in Kona Triangle as well. BTW I don't see much similarity between this and Aphex's SAW 85-92 to be honest. Some influence of course, which can't be denied in almost every IDM-related album for the past 20 years, but otherwise, this is basically glitch-hop.

hm. this really reminded me of Pulsewidth for some reason. Oh, and will check out the album you recommended, too.

Perhaps with more listens I'll hear more of what you mean. But as I said, it's hard for there not to be any Aphex influence in this type of music, so maybe I'm so used to it I never notice it anymore unless it's something really obvious.

I always thought of minimalism as a classical genre. But then there's terry riley and he made electronic-ish music. Electronic or classical? that is the question.

Classical is an inaccurate term. The classical period of music was from 1750 to 1820. Reich would be a contemporary and 21st century musician.

Well, there is minimal techno, etc. But Steve Reich does I guess a lot of contemporary classical stuff too.

yes, but usually people call certain kinds of music classical music.
