#33: Aphex Twin: DrukQs

You bet. sure, this album has been criticized for having an awful lot of filler, but that's not a big problem for me. this album has one of the best electronic tracks EVER! on it. what is that song? Mt. Saint Michel + Saint Michael's Mount. Pure gold, that song. it starts off with a strange synth line and bells. after the relatively quiet intro, the assault begins. in a flurry of drum machines and hardcore synths, it begins to slow down. not for long, though. It speeds up and gets choppier. The ending result is amazing. if you didn't like this song, listen to it the entire way through, then you'll get it.

EDIT: I only wrote one review because I'm tired and I couldn't think any longer.

I enjoy Beat Pyramid as well, maybe more so than Hidden. But both are good and I don't understand the criticism I've read either.

Drukqs does get a lot of criticism, but to me the real problem with it is not filler, but sequencing. There just isn't any flow to it. Back when it first came out I made 2 separate CD-Rs from it...one with all the hyper tracks and one with the mellow tracks. I don't think they necessarily have to be separated like that to be enjoyed, but the default order just doesn't really work.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

Good point. It's kinda odd having Avril 14 playing and all of the sudden HUGE HARDCORE FAST MONSTROSITY!.

also, I haven't gotten hidden yet. I do think their criticism is unfair. I think they're pretty cool but the critics all disagree.

I really need to listen to DrukQs now. I love Aphex Twin, but that's an album I just haven't gotten around to hearing yet.

#32: Don Caballero: American Don

You all saw this one coming. this is the last album by the original Don Cab (Original meaning with Ian Williams, one of my all time favorite guitarists) and it's pretty good. It still has those nutty math rawk jams we all know and love, it still has Damon Che the octopus drumming on it and it's a classic math rock album. My favorite songs are Details On How To Get ICEMAN On Your License Plate and Haven't Lived Afro Pop. If you're into math rock and don't know who Don Caballero is, I instruct you to walk off of a cliff and land on a rather uncomfortable patch of jagged rocks.

#31: GIAA: The End Of The Beginning

Weeeee... Electronic-ish post rock. For some odd reason it reminds me of the soundtrack to Bejewelled 2 for the 3rd generation systems..... That sounded really geeky.

I have not yet listened to Don Cabellero but I do have an interest in the genre. I suppose I should get on that. I like GIAA, but I have not heard that album.
