The White Stripes

Are you from Detroit?

There first seems to stand as their weakest release to me, and the least Stripey of them all. That album was like the rough sketches of what the stripes were to become. I mean they still had some surf-influenced things which must have been left over from the Go, and so I think that album was more Jack White, than White Stripes.

im moderately diggin it. icky thump really is the best track on the album hands down... and its got a real nice sound to it. i just dont feel i can listen to this album all the way through in one sitting like i could with say elephant or self titled. maybe ill give it a 3rd shot.

Icky Thump seems to be one of their weaker albums.
Then again thats not saying much, they're one of the most consistant bands around.
Little Cream Soda, Rag And Bone and Effect And Cause are my top picks.
I am undecided wether i like St. Andrew yet.

White Blood Cells has held up quite well, with limited filler even in retrospect.

Best as in i've weighed up how much i enjoy each album and i've decided i like that the most. I wasn't really thinking in terms of filler, but i wouldn't say theres any on there.

On White Blood Cells? Oh come on now. Aluminum?

To me, they really don't have one. Its as if one more good song on each album would push it over the edge but they all have equal greatness and equal flaws.

If I had to pick one though I would say that GBMS has some of the better songs that carry on. Doorbell, Little Ghost, Take,Take,Take, I'm Lonely, Instinct Blues, Denial Twist.

To be fair though, while it has most of my favorite stripes songs, the ones I don't like are some of the worst since the s/t album.
