I'm a little shocked to find WBC's with the highest amount of votes. Being a record that is neither the indie fan favorite or the commercial smash.

Can anyone chime in as to why they voted that way?

I actually voted that before I read your post. But I personally went through a pretty big White Stripes phase when I was a bit younger so at one point I owned all their albums. After purchasing this album (White Blood Cells) I never looked back at the other alubums, while I don' t mean that literally, I never found the other albums up to par with this one. Even after Icky Thump was released, I just dont think this band can do any better than they did with White Blood Cells.

Well it was their first ever album on a major label, so I think this album may have introduced a lot of people to the band.

Although my pressing of the album was on their original Sympathy For The Record Industry label

yeah so was mine. I'm guessing it was the first record with radio hits, but Elephant should have eclipsed it by a wide margin.

Although, interestingly enough for me, I thought that The radio singles from WBC's were on whole better than Elephants (barring 7NA which was a mushroom cloud of pure rock ecstacy) though I think Elephant had more appealing songs than WBC. (Ball and a Biscuit was a groove that made you wanna ****, and Girl, You have no Faith in Medicine won over the most ardent Stripes haters)
