48. José González - Veneer (2003)



Genre: Indie folk

José Gonzáles is a swedish indie folk singer-songwriter.
I first heard about josé from my best friend back in 2005 or so. I immediately fell in love with Josés tender vocals and the amazing classical guitar playing.
Veneer has some really great songs and a quite good cover of The Knifes Heartbeats. I really love the song Crosses on this album. I really love the albums minimalistic cover too. Great album.

47. Mew - Frengers (2003)



Genre: Dream pop, indie rock, alternative rock

Frengers is the third album by the danish band Mew. This is propably my favorite Mew album. Jonas Bjerres vocals are lovely and give me a fluffy feeling inside. Bo Madsens playin is also lovely. I love pretty much every track on it although Comforting Sounds and Am I Wry? No are my favorite ones.

46. Grandaddy - Sumday (2003)

Grandaddy was an American indie rock band, formed in 1992. Sumday is the third album by Grandaddy.
I first heard about Grandaddy when I watched the movie 28 Days Later. I really liked A.M 180 that played on the film. Eventhough I really liked the song and some other Grandaddy songs that I had checked out I soon forgot about the band. Then a little later my little brother started to like Grandaddy and recommended the Sumday album for me and got me hooked on it.
Really like this album. Great indie rock album.

45. Empyrium - Weiland (2002)



Genre: Neofolk

To celebrate the comeback of Empyrium I decided to present their Weiland album as my next album on the list.
Empyrium is a german neofolk band that started out as a doomy folk/black metal band. Empyrium was founded in 1994. Empyrium draws its inspiration heavily from nature which can be seen from their album and song titles. Empyrium has released four albums and a retrospective compilation album. The first two albums are more metal influenced and the last two are all acoustic folk albums. Also the first albums were sung in english and the last was sung completely in german.
Weiland was the last album Empyrium recorded before they disbanded in 2002. The album is divided into three chapters Heidestimmung ("Moor Sounds"), Waldpoesie ("Forest Poetry") and Wassergeister ("Water Spirits").
I used to listen to Empyrium alot when I was younger. I still have all their albums and listen to them from time to time. I can't even put into words how happy I felt when I heard that they are writing new music after all these years.

44. Suffocate For **** Sake - Blazing Fires and Helicopters on the Front Page of the Newspaper. There’s a War Going On and I’m Marching in Heavy Boots (2008)



Genre: Post-metal, sludge, post-rock, screamo

Suffocate For **** Sake is a swedish band that mixes warm post-rock melodies with violent sludge, post-hardcore riffs and screamo vocals. They also use lengthy samples of spoken Swedish over their tracks.
Blazing Fires and Helicopters on the Front Page... is the bands first full length album and follows a swedish girl when she's looking back to the time when she got put in a mental institute.
I first heard about this band from my friend. The name was the first thing that caught my interest and my expectations weren't so high because of the name but when I listened to the album I was proven wrong. I really loved the album and it is now one of my favorite albums. I really love the overall feeling of the album and the theme of loosing control of yourself. I love the swedish spoken parts and the fact I know swedish adds alot to it. I find the whole listening experience really overwhelming. Go listen to this album now if you haven't already!
