Oh god stupid musical statements are just coming back to me.

70% of my English class + the teacher have said that modern music sucked and that older music was so much better than anything out today.

I was so close to walking out.

and here's my question exactly when does a song become listed as "Old" where and when was the line drawn. music is timeless and amazing.

Yeah, well, at the discussion above: to say that all music in general has gotten worse is really, really, really moronic. There have always been amazing acts that tweak every note until it's perfect and put all of their passion into the music. There have also been stupid jingles written purely to dance to.

However, the most mainstreem, most popular music has probably gotten worse over time, if that's what Kaimon's teacher meant. I mean, in 1969 The Beatles were the biggest band in the world. In 2009 , Lady Gaga was the biggest act in the world (MJ doesn't count, he was only popular for his death). In 2010, it was either Justin Bieber, Eminem, or Lady Gaga. Only one of the three are actually good.

In all fairness as much as I am extremely unimpressed by Biebar, Eminem, and Lady Gaga you listed how music has become less variant by having three acts popular the most popular in the world than one.

Few things grate my nerves as much as statements like this.

I don't get this. "Mainstream" music has always been full of crap. We just remember the critically acclaimed acts years later. There's no more garbage filler on top 40 stations than there ever has been, we just think there's more because there is compared to Classic of X Decade stations.

And that's just the freaking radio.
