If he'd said Gorgoroth, Dimmu Borgir, or some other Black Metal band, then it'd be ironic (still not stupid). Although if all that was said was:

"Man, I really love Slipknot. They're like my favorite band!"

then I'd totally get it.

EDIT: See now it's already been discussed. I'm late to this party. Well, I guess I'll be over at the punch bowl if anyone needs me. Deuces.

I think he's just taking another swipe at Slipknot, i've seen him do it in a couple of other threads. If a person hates a band for some reason or other that person should just ignore them, instead of bashing them at every given opportunity.

Continuing the Emo and Slipknot discussions. I used to have a friend who listened to rave and knew literally nothing about other types of music. A group of people in our school who hang about near the bathrooms he refers to as "the emos". A friend of ours started dating one of these people.

Him: Martin's going to be an emo now you know. Next we know he'll be wearing black and listening to emo music
Me: What exactly do you classify as emo music?
Him: Heavy Metal and all that ****. Slipknot and stuff. *does an annoying generic slipknot growl thing"
Me: But that's Metal....not Emo
Him: But Emos listen to it, so it's Emo
Me: But if they don't listen to emo, how are they emos?
Him: Because they slit their wrists and like heavy metal

^ That happened to me a couple times on Halloween. I dressed up as Robert Plant.

"What are you dressed as!?"
"Robert Plant!"
"Who's that?"
"The singer from Led Zeppelin."
"Who?"

Does this count? Your playing a gig or just maybe setting around the campfire with your acoustic. The always inevitable question seems to arrive..."HEY!! PLAY THAT ONE SONG!!" When you ask as to which song they are reffering to..."YOU KNOW..THAT ONE SONG YOU DO!!".....ugh

How about the dissapointed face people make when I tell them "I don't know any songs."
Ive never seen the point in learning other people's music. Truth be told I only can play 1 cover from start to finish, and it's because I wanted to hear the music while I was away.

Usually thats my response. I use to take the time to try an figure out what song they were reffering to. Now I just say I dunno, and play whatever I want.
