Which is the better music city: Birmingham or Liverpool?

Orchestral Maneuvers in the Dark (OMD - Still like the Early 80's stuff)
Teardrop Explodes
The Undertakers (w/Jackie Lomax)
and all of the many faces of Wah! (Pete Wylie)

Late 70's-80's music fans have a few good Birmingham bands that should also be listed:
Duran Duran (Say what you may, but they had some great moments in my opinion)
The Beat (or, if you're in The States, The English Beat)
Au Pairs (Playing With a Different Sex)
UB40 (Present Arms)

Throwing in one Extreme Metal band:
Anaal Nathrakh

One more 70' Rock/Pop band:
Wizzard (Wizzard being Roy Wood's post-Move/ELO band)

Still have not voted, will possibly get to one in a few days, but I just wanted to make the lists a little longer.

I would choose neither UK city and choose American ones and some Canadian ones

I never have and never will, since I tend to like more underground stuff. I guess I was trying to say that there are still music listener that don't like Top 40 Lady Gaga stuff. Take Heavy Metal for instance that genre isn't really mainstream no matter how popular some bands are, I'm sure there is still a market for Metal despite the popularity and oversatuation of Pop music and those this sort of artistes.
